About Hexxagon Online - Classic Hex Strategy
Play Hexxagon online free! The classic hex-grid strategy game. Clone, jump, and convert enemy pieces across a 61-cell hex board with 5 AI difficulty levels.
Description provided by GameZipper.
How to play
- Corners are safe — a piece in a corner can never be converted.
- Edges are strong — fewer adjacent enemies can reach you.
- Don't over-clone next to the enemy — they'll convert your new piece.
- Mobility matters — keep move options open; a player with no moves must pass.
Controls
This game supports touch, keyboard, mouse input; the exact controls are explained inside the game.
Questions
- How do you play Hexxagon?
- Hexxagon is played on a 61-cell hexagonal board. On your turn, choose one of your pieces and either CLONE it (place a new piece on an empty adjacent cell, keeping the original) or JUMP it (move 2 cells away, leaving the source empty). After landing, all adjacent enemy pieces convert to your color. The game ends when the board is full or neither player can move; whoever has more pieces wins.
- What is the difference between Hexxagon and Ataxx?
- Ataxx is the original 7x7 square-grid version (1990). Hexxagon is the 1992 Capcom remake that uses a hexagonal grid instead of squares, which changes adjacency (6 neighbors instead of 8) and gives the game its iconic look. The core clone-jump-convert mechanic is identical.
- What is the clone vs jump rule in Hexxagon?
- CLONE: place a new piece on a cell 1 hex away from one of your pieces (the source piece stays). JUMP: move one of your pieces to a cell exactly 2 hexes away (the source cell becomes empty). Both moves then convert all adjacent enemy pieces to your color. Cloning grows your army faster; jumping repositions but costs you a piece at the source.
